All the world’s a stage and the theatre and arts are particular favourite subjects for Andy and Suzy to photograph. While working for newspapers and also in their own time they regularly spent hours sitting through dress rehearsals and performances capturing amazing images of the action on stage where photography under theatre lights and adapting and correcting colour casts is a specific art. The Irving Stage Company and Suffolk Young People’s Theatre have benefited from a partnership that stretches back many decades and more recently an association with Stagecoach and the Barton Players.
Live bands and acts on stage at concerts and in theatres and large venues is also a popular subject for the Abbott cameras. Andy remembers photographing the likes of Slade, Hot Chocolate David Essex and Showaddwaddy back in the Seventies, more recently it has been Katherine Jenkins, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Feeling and Eliza Doolittle!
For the dedicated followers of fashion Andy and Suzy have photographed catwalk shows, images of latest collections and designs in informal settings for some large independent design houses. As a husband and wife team, it has proved at times to be hugely beneficial when dealing with models at a fashion shoot with many costume and location changes.
